Spex (magazine)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Spex is a prominent German rock and pop culture magazine founded in 1980 in Cologne, West Germany. Its focus is primarily on contemporary and cutting edge music artists. It is known for its leftist intellectual and political streak, and has included among its writers leading German pop culture critics such as Diedrich Diederichsen and Dietmar Dath. Though strongly associated with the Cologne alternative culture scene, the magazine moved recently to Berlin. Under new ownership, its editorial staff was completely replaced in 2007, with Maximiliam Bauer, a.k.a. "Max Dax" as new editor-in-chief.
