"Speed 3" is the 3rd episode of the third series of Channel 4 sitcom Father Ted and the 20th episode overall. It is an obvious parody of the 1994 film Speed.
[edit] Synopsis
Dougal unwittingly becomes the target of a terrorist incident. The local milkman, Pat Mustard is dismissed after Father Ted discovers he has been "making hairy babies" with the women on his rounds (photos show babies literally with mustaches and sideburns)! Dougal takes on the role. However, Mustard discovers he has been replaced, and plots against Dougal. He fits his milkfloat with a bomb, in comic reference to the Speed films. The bomb becomes activated once the milkfloat reaches 4 mph, and Ted has to devise a way of rescuing Dougal from an untimely end. When all hope is lost there is nothing for it but to say Mass, a feat achieved by an inappropriately positioned altar on a trailer attached to the back of a tractor. In the end, the innovative use of a brick provides Dougal with the means to escape from the milkfloat.
