Special Areas Board, Alberta

The Special Areas Board is the governing body of Alberta's Special Areas. Special Areas are designated districts of county or municipal district level, that are governed by appointed councils, under the direct authority of Alberta Municipal Affairs and Housing.
The Special Areas are administered under the provisions of the Special Areas Act.[1] Three Special Areas are established in Southern Alberta, all located in the south-east of the province, in Census Division 4.
