Spassk-Ryazansky

Spassk-Ryazansky (Russian: Спасск-Ряза́нский) is a town in Ryazan Oblast, Russia, located on the shores of the Lake Spasskoye some 55 km southeast of Ryazan. Population: 8,500 (2005 est.); 8,858 (2002 Census).

Spassk-Ryazansky was founded in 1629 as a sloboda Vaskina Polyana. In 1778, it was renamed Spassk and granted town status. In 1929, the town's name was changed to Spassk-Ryazansky.
