Space Sector 2814

Space Sector 2814 in DC Comics is the designation by the Guardians of the Universe, creators of the Green Lantern Corps, for the sector of space containing the planet Earth. It is simultaneously considered something of a backwater by many galactic and intergalactic powers, and also a place of extreme importance owing mainly to Earth's improbable prominence in the affairs of the universe.

2814 was patrolled by Green Lantern Abin Sur for most of the 19th and 20th centuries, until his fatal crash landing on Earth while fleeing from the hive mind entity known as Legion. His ring then passed to the most famous Green Lantern in history, Hal Jordan. Following Jordan's resignation, John Stewart served as Green Lantern for 2814, up until the first end of the Corps, when the Guardians dropped the "one GL per sector" restriction and abandoned the Corps.

Space Sectors, as described by the Guardians, each constitute 1/3600th of the known universe (excluding separate dimensions). There are at least 100 billion galaxies in the universe, meaning for each sector there is one Green Lantern to "patrol" millions and millions of galaxies. This fact is sometimes noted by fans critical of the notion that only 3600 beings can patrol the entire universe, but the matter has not yet been addressed in any meaningful way by the writers or editors of DC Comics.

There have been many Green Lantern's of this sector through out history. The first known was a dragon like humaniod alien called Yalan Gur who turned rogue while visiting Earth and The Gaurdians of the Universe made his power ring have a defect against wood allowing the tribesmen to beat Yalan Gur with their clubs, this sotry was inserted into continuity to try and tie the Guardians Green Lantern Corps together with the the first Green Lantern Alan Scott.

The next known Green Lantern of Sector 2814 is John Li (Green Lantern:Dragon Lords 1-3) who was a chinese warrior and tried to not use the power ring as he considered it an unfair advantage.

The next known GL of Sector 2814 is Laham he never appears in any comic his ring seeks out and finds Waverly Sayre after Laham dies obviously Waverly is the next known GL of 2814 possible direct successor to Waverly is Stakaor.

Donna Parker was offered a ring for sector 2814 but refused it perferring to stay a mother to her children.

We then have Abin Sur 19th - 20th centuries who at one point appointed Daniel Young as Temp GL for less the 24 hours at Abin's death the ring was awarded to Hal Jordan. through out the 20th century Sector 2814's GL has been Hal Jordan, Guy Gardner, John Stewart, and Kyle Rayner.

Percival was at one time GL or Sector 2814 poss before even Yalan Gur.

in the future there is an unnamed GL for Sector 2814 in the year 2473 AD

30th Century Xenofobe Vidar later the villian Universo Rond Vidar. Vidar's son and member of the Legion of SuperHeros the fact that he was a GL was hidden even from the Legionairres.
