Sowmya (Sanskrit, "soft," "smooth") can be one of the following:

  • a description of something as gentle. It has also been used as a name for Indian women.
  • the name for lord Shiva.
  • In Sanskrit Sowmya means "son of moon"
  • Sowmya is also name of a famous goddess in Indian Mythology "Durga Devi", Sowmya is hence used as name for Indian Women.
