Sowerby and Luff

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Sowerby and Luff Show is a weekly podcast on Adam Curry's Podshow Network, hosted by writers and presenters Georgina Sowerby and Brian Luff. Georgina and Brian's previous series, "The Big Squeeze," became one of the most downloaded radio shows on the iTunes podcast "Comedy 365"[citation needed], and built an audience of over three million downloads during its 18 months of syndication[citation needed]. Big Squeeze was also one of the first UK podcasts to get per-download sponsorship from a US company, as well as mobile phone distribution. The Sowerby and Luff show features different sections. The current sections are:

  • Words that are nice to say - Georgina and Brian say a word, usually sent in by a listener, and repeat it.
  • Scissors, Paper, Anti-Aircraft Gun - A variation of Scissors, Paper, Stone where, instead of Stone, Georgina and Brian each say a different item and it is decided which item would defeat which.
  • Sowerby and Luff's In-Crowd - The segment in which Georgina and Brian read out listener e-mails. It is the successor to Folding the corner over, from the previous show hosted by Sowerby and Luff, The Big Squeeze and The Big, Big Squeeze.
  • Name That Bird - A game where Georgina tries to guess what species of bird is making the catchcry which Brian plays. Georgina has not guessed correctly as of Episode 6, which makes it her seventh week running in which she still has not guessed correctly.
  • What the Fuck? - A game where Georgina thinks of a completely random item (physical or not) and Brian must guess what it is. Previous items have been "The angle at which the Tower of Pisa leans at" and "Yvette Fielding's guilt at perpetrating the shameful hoax that is Most Haunted".

Brian Luff is a former comedy producer for Channel 4, and Georgina Sowerby has worked as an account manager at Saatchi & Saatchi. For four years, the pair also produced a weekly comedy show on the London fringe called Sketch Club.
