Soviet submarine K-11
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Soviet K-11 nuclear-powered K-11 was a November-class Project 627 submarine that had at least two reactor accidents, perhaps three. Sources indicate a reactor accident on October 13, 1960, February 7, and February 12, 1965. The (first) reactor compartment holding two reactor plants was removed and sunk into Abrosimova Bay in the Kara Sea in 1965 or 1966. A new reactor compartment was installed and the boat continued to operate. It was lost on April 11, 1970.
Commissioned: August 31, 1960. Stricken in 1970.
