Template talk:SourceWatch
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I would like to restructure this template to provide the actual link to the SourceWatch site. I have already created "Template:SourceWatch link", but I think this should be unified. It is tedious that the "id" and "page" parameters will often be the same expect for the spaces (and escaping of special characters such as apostropheis} but it is best to list both explicitly. The "id" parameter can differ from our page name and the "page" parameter should be how you want the page display. In the latter case, if our page has a name with parenthesis for disambiguation, such as "John Smith (author)", then it is not desirable to simply use the PAGENAME template. Because the page can be changed to this style later, it is never desirable to use this shortcut. -- Pinktulip 09:33, 29 January 2006 (UTC)
- I am really annoyed by your change, since you are making this template do two things and breaking a number of articles. Previously, this template existed to notify readers that an article was copied from SourceWatch. This is required of us because of the GFDL. Now you have turned it into an external link template. However, there may be cases where we want to add a sourcewatch notice without linking to the article on SourceWatch. And there may be cases when an article is not copied from SourceWatch, but we still want to link to the SourceWatch article. In short you've created a lot of work for people who have to clean up your mess. Rhobite 22:18, 9 February 2006 (UTC)
I fixed this template mess:
- Template:SourceWatch now only links to SourceWatch. No category.
- Template:SourceWatch text adds a message that the article uses SourceWatch text under the GFDL, and adds Category:SourceWatch text.

- Can someone move all the Template:Disinfopedia articles to Sourcewatch per the name change? FGT2 23:38, 17 December 2006 (UTC)
