Talk:South Salem High School

[edit] Wow...
This page needs some serious work. I'll see if I can get around to cleaning it up sometime in the next few weeks. I am a grad, but I think I can probably objectify this page a whole lot more DumberDrummer 07:01, 22 December 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Alumni and Controversy
I find it rather insulting that three people are listed under notable graduates, and the only two students are definitely not recognized for their academic achievements or their positive influence on society. Rather sends the wrong message, eh?
Wikipedia entries are not for "sending a message," right or wrong. These are simply people who attended the school and, for whatever reason, attained a certain measure of notability. Passing judgement on what earned them that status is beyond the scope of this article and frankly, rather irrelevant. If that causes you to be insulted, so be it. Why is South always noted for the "bad" things that they do? It's not like West Salem doesn't get in fights, or Sprague deal with drug busts. You are putting a negative connotation on South. What about the good things that happen? South was the only school that let a special club that deals with the Invisable Children in Africa come to their school, they are always doing community service, but that isn't what gets published. They helped out two huge families by giving them a Christmas that they never would have had, they support the fight against AIDS all over the world, the few people that do stupid things are the ones that are being talked about. Please help South, in being a better school and putting a better connotatioin on them. They can't do it by themselves.
I'm not sure I understand your gripe. The Wikipedia entry for South Salem High School is not and should not be a brochure nor is it a recruiting tool. If you are referring to the Recent Controversy section, feel free to re-write it, but make sure you keep a neutral POV.
[edit] Bomb Shelter
Zach C.: I believe I have found the entrance to the bomb shelter. There is a chain by the discus cage on the field.
Christian Pass: I agree with Zach to have noticed this chain on many occassions. I've heard electricity running down inside and unless there a sweat shop down there, one would assume its a bomb shelter or a protective area. Why else would you have power down there?
