Southern sludgecore involves the slow, heavy Black Sabbath-like riffing of sludge metal, mixed with a Southern rock sound and a bluesy, Southern feel. The sound has often been described as southern fried Black Sabbath. Drug references, violence, and Southern imagery are common in the lyrics.
