Southern Rock Allstars

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Southern Rock Allstars are a band that got its name from the history/lineage of its former members, but the original members who gave it the allure and true meaning of a Southern Rock supergroup have moved on or died. Its current lineup consists of a former bassist for The Rossington Band, which was a 1-album act formed by Gary Rossington of Lynyrd Skynyrd and his wife, which is a footnote in the annals of Southern Rock, and the remainder were essentially one-time sidemen and, believe it or not, even roadies for some prominent Southern Rock acts.

[edit] History

Based in Muscle Shoals, coincidentally a ghost town for Southern-based recording, the group at one time featured Jakson Spires, formerly the original drummer with Blackfoot, and Dave Hlubek, former guitarist & chief songwriter for Southern Rock legendary group Molly Hatchet. Spires died at 53 of a brain aneurysm in Florida in 2005 and Hlubek the same year rejoined Molly Hatchet as the only original member of that group, leaving its current lineup devoid of any members that would be considered a bonafide, notable "all-star".
