Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE

Southern Queensland Institute of TAFE (SQIT) is an Australian institute for teaching tertiary and further education. It covers a wide area, with campuses in Toowoomba, Roma, Warwick, Kingaroy, Dalby and Chinchilla.

SQIT Toowoomba is now centred on their Bridge Street Campus (on the former Toowoomba Showgrounds site), around 1.5 km from the Toowoomba CBD. Some services are still at their Hume Street complex (near the new Police Station and adjoining the Empire Theatre on Neil St).
The old TAFE building on the corner of Margaret and Hume Streets was sold and is undergoing redevelopement.

Sunbus (Garden City Sunbus) operate the bus services in Greater Toowoomba on behalf on Queensland Transport. There are no suburban or commuter rail services in Toowoomba.
The Bridge Street Campus of SQIT may be reached by Route 2 (Mt Lofty) Sunbus services, with around 10 buses a day each way running variously between around 7:30am and 5:00pm. The early morning and late afternoon services connect to a very limited range of destinations in Toowoomba.
The Bridge Street Campus is around 1.5 km from the Toowoomba CBD, the Toowoomba Bus Interchange, and the Greyhound terminal. Most of this distance is through parkland: Queens Park, the Botanic Gardens and the open parklands south of the campus buildings.
The Hume Street complex of SQIT may be reached on foot from the Toowoomba Bus Interchange on Neil Street (a distance of around 400 m) or from the Hooper Centre stop on the Sunbus Route 5 service, a distance of around 100 m, with around 10 buses a day each way running variously between around 7:30am and 5:00pm. The early morning and late afternoon services connect to a very limited range of destinations in Toowoomba.
