The Southern Football League Premier Division is a part-time Football League which is currently in its 2006/07 season.

There are 22 clubs in the league, who each play each other twice, once at each team's home stadium.

The team who finishes 1st will automatically be promoted to the Conference South/North

Teams who finish in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th will play in the play-offs, with the winner being promoted to the Conference North/South. These play-offs consist of the team finishing 3rd playing the team finishing 6th in a two-legged tie, and the teams finishing 4th and 5th meeting. The winners of these ties will play at a neutral venue (usually Villa Park,) in a single match.

The team which finishes 19th is relegated unless their points per game record is superior to that of the teams finishing 19th in the Northern Premier League and the Isthmian League.

Teams finishing in 20th, 21st and 22nd, will automatically be relegated to Division One Midlands or Division One South and West.
