Southern Federal University is a university in the Rostov oblast, Russia. It was established in 2006, when Rostov State Pedagogical University, Rostov State Academy of Architecture and Art, Taganrog State Radiotechnical University, and Rostov State University were combined to form one of two new federal universities in Russia. The former rector of Taganrog State Radiotechnical University, Vladislav Zakharevich, has been appointed Southern Federal's first rector, and the former rector of Rostov State University, Alexander Belokon, has been appointed SFU's first president.[1]
