From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Southend Central Museum is a museum in Southend-on-Sea, Essex, England. The museum contains the only planetarium in South East England outside London. As well as the planetarium, the museum is home to the Beecroft Art Gallery which contains over 2000 pieces including works by Lear, Molenaer, Seago and Constable.

The museum was opened in April 1981 in an Edwardian building that was previously Southend's first free public library.
