Southeastern University

Southeastern University is a private, non-profit undergraduate and graduate institution of higher education located in southwestern Washington, D.C. in the United States. It was established in 1879 and chartered by an Act of Congress in 1937. Its current president is Charlene Drew Jarvis, Ph.D., who for twenty years was a member of the Washington, D.C. city council. It has degree programs in Criminal Justice, Child Development, Public Administration, Business Management, Accounting, Finance, Liberal Studies, and Computer Science. There are also certificate programs in Legal Studies, and various allied health fields through a partnership with Greater Southeast Community Hospital.

Southeastern University has a total enrollment of almost one thousand students. The vast majority are locally based, African-American, and female, but there is also a significant international enrollment consisting of students from West Africa, China, Taiwan, Southeast Asia, and elsewhere.
