Southeast High School (Florida)

Southeast High School, located in Bradenton, FL near the Tropicana Products factory, is a public high school in Manatee County. The school mascot is the Seminole and the school colors are blue and orange, while its secondary colors are gray and white. It was founded in the 1950s and was originally an all-girls school. The current principal is Michael Horne.
The school also participates in sports such as football (Class 5A - District 9), boys and girls basketball, baseball, soccer, weightlifting, volleyball, track, golf, and swimming. The school also has a very active FFA program. The school's band is also very well recognized, bringing home superior ratings in the Wind Ensemble and Jazz band, as well as many superiors from state solo/ensemble. In the fall of 2006, the Marching Seminoles achieved straight superiors at their district competition. The school also has a jazz combo which can be found gigging throughout downtown Bradenton.
Enrollment is about 1,700 students.

They have an active and fully accredited International Baccalaureate program, which is a worldwide-recognized institute known for its advanced classes. The program at Southeast now serves more than 100 students yearly and offers courses in English, Foreign Language (German, French, or Spanish), ITGS (Information Technology in a Global Society), IB Music, Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Design Technology, History and Theory of Knowledge.
- In May 2006 Newsweek placed Southeast at no. 314 of the 320 top high schools in the country.[1]
- This school was given a grade of 'B by the Florida Department of Education in 2005-2006. In 2004-2005, this school received a 'B'.[2]

- Adrian McPherson was named both Mr. Football and Mr. Basketball for the state of Florida. To date, this is the only person in Florida history to achieve both titles.
- Southeast's cross-town rival, Manatee High School, produced football stars Tommie Frazier and Tyrone Williams.
- The 1995 NCAA football championship between Nebraska and Florida each had players from Bradenton. Nebraska had Leslie Dennis (Southeast High), Tyrone Williams, Tommie Frazier and Shevin Wiggins.
