[edit] History
Opened in 1927 the school was orginally combined with Bishop Wordsworth's Grammar School for Boys with which it still has close links. Since the opening the school has continued to develop with a new building and school hall being opened in the 1960/70s and three new buildings being opened in the past year.
The newest buildings added to the school complex are a specialist maths block opened early 2004, a new sixth form block to accommodate the ever growing sixth form and a new music block. As well as new buildings the school has recently undergone much refurbishment with the old wooden science labs being replaced and the majority of classrooms being equip with electronic whiteboards and computers.
For many years now South Wilts has topped government league tables with excellent public examinations results which illustrate the high level of teaching that is given at the school.
