South San Jose

South San Jose is a large geographic area in San Jose, California, USA. South San Jose consists mainly of middle-class latino neighborhoods. Some of those neighborhoods include:

• Almaden Valley
• Seven Trees
• Edenvale
• Blossom Valley
• Oak Glen
• Robertsville
• San Felipe
• Santa Teresa
• Silver Creek

[edit] Demographics

South San Jose's residents are predominantly Mexican American and also includes Caucasian, Vietnamese, Cambodians, Samoans, and Filipinos, respectively in order of size^{[citation needed]}. A neighborhood around Seven Trees and Monterey Road is known for its large population of Mexican Americans which is similar to East San Jose and Edenvale area of South San Jose.

South San Jose area is also recognized for its gang activity very similar to East San Jose.^{[citation needed]} During the first quarter of 2005, San Jose had about 8 murders, 6 of which were gang related, and one of which was witnessed by pedestrians and drivers on the neighboring intersection of Story and McLaughlin.^{[citation needed]} San Jose had 53 murders in 1991, with a population of around 800,000, and as of August 2006 it had 16 murders. Known to be one of the most violent gangs in San Jose since the 90's amongst many others. Norteno gangs are much more prevalent in San Jose and surrounding cities than Sureno gangs. There are many Crip gangs in San Jose as well. They include CWA Crips Wit Attitude, one of the most active. CF, Crip Family. Both CWA and CF are from Carnelian Drive around the Santee neighborhoods. Across the overpass is PTC P-Town Crip, the Crip gang of Poco Way Apartments.
