South Orange County

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

South Orange County is the southern part of Orange County, California, and is demographically, economically, and geographically much different from North Orange County. The cities of South Orange County generally include San Clemente, San Juan Capistrano, Laguna Niguel, Dana Point, Laguna Beach, Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods, Lake Forest, Aliso Viejo, Ladera Ranch, Rancho Santa Margarita and others. It is disputed whether Irvine is considered part of South Orange County, but it is generally accepted that the border between the two lies somewhere in the city.

While the northern part of Orange County lies on the coastal plain of the Los Angeles Basin, South Orange County is primarily located within the foothills of the Santa Ana Mountains, or more colloquially known as Saddleback Valley. Not to mention, and climate of the southern half of the county is generally more mild, and exhibits more of a cool ocean breeze all year round.
