South High School (Springfield, Ohio)

South High School is a public high school in Springfield, Ohio. It is one of two high schools in the Springfield City Schools district, the other school being North High School.

The school's design was based on the U.S. Capitol building. It was the first high school of Springfield. North High School was built in the 1960's due to the rising population of the city.

The mascot is the the Wildcat. The school colors are Gold and Navy Blue. There is a planned merger between North High School and South High School. A new high school that will combine the two schools is being constructed on land owned by Springfield City Schools that North High School resides on currently.

Interesting Fact

-Springfield South has beaten Springfield North in many basketball games, only losing 1 game in their past 25 meetings.

-Went to the Elite Eight in the 2002 in football.
