South Herefordshire
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
South Herefordshire was an English local government district, based around Ross-on-Wye.
It was formed on April 1, 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, and became a district of the new non-metropolitan county of Hereford and Worcester. It was formed as a merger of Ross-on-Wye urban district along with Dore and Bredwardine Rural District, Hereford Rural District and Ross and Whitchurch Rural District. The district entirely surrounded the district of Hereford.
On April 1, 1998, the district was abolished as Herefordshire was split out from Hereford and Worcester as a unitary authority.
