South Florida Regional Transportation Authority

The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority was created by act of the Florida Legislature on July 1, 2003. The agency replaced the pre-existing Tri-County Commuter Rail Authority, and was created with the goal of expanding cooperation between the Tri-Rail passenger railroad and the existing county mass-transit authorities: Broward County Transit, Miami-Dade Transit, and Palm Tran. The South Florida Regional Transportation Authority, operated Tri-Rail.
