South Cheshire college opened in 1966 and was officially opened by the Queen mother in 1968. The engineers were the first to enter the college with one of the students being Tom Binkley who is now an engineering lecturer at the college.

South Cheshire College is a large college near the centre of Crewe.The main structure is 7 floors high with a different department on each floor. The college is open from 8:00am till 9 p.m. There are bus services available to people living out of Crewe and there is a very good local train and local bus service only up the road from the main college building. The college offers a large number of courses and has excellent lectures in its engineering department. the college offers the following subjects with hundreds of courses to choose from:-

It takes twenty-five minutes to walk to the centre of Crewe from the college. It is a ten minute walk from Crewe train station.

[edit] Future of the College

In 2006 plans were drawn and agreed upon by the govenors of the college, and a new modern campus is to be built on the same site but located differently. All buildings currently in place are to be replaced, and the current main car park and some green land at the current front of the college is to be sold for housing development.

[edit] Dane Bank Restaurant

The Restaurant at Dane Bank offers some of the best cuisine in the area. As a training restaurant* seating up to 200 guests, this facility may be used for functions during the week and at weekends. Ideal for buffets, parties, annual dinners or, with our bar facilities, as a refreshment area for your conference. Depending on availability, members of the college and the public are welcome to book for meals at lunchtimes and selected evenings. Open for Dinners, Tuesday and Thursday at 6.30pm (prior booking is required). Morning Coffee served from 10.00am Quick lunches served in the Piano Bar, Monday to Friday from 12.00 noon.

  • Meals are cooked and served by South Cheshire catering and hospitality students under supervision. The curly fries are great!
