South Australian Oaks

The South Australian Oaks is a Group 2 Australian thoroughbred horse race for fillies aged 3 years old, over a distance of 2500m.
It is held annually at Morphettville Racecourse in Adelaide.

The race was first run in 1951.
1951 - 1972 held over 10 furlongs (approx. 2000m)
1973 - 1984 held over 2000m
1986 - 1994 held over 2400m
1995 onwards held over 2500m.
1951 – 1979 was a Principal Race
1980 – 2004 was a Group 1
2005 onwards Group 2
