[edit] History

August 20 marks two important events in Algerian history: the start of the Soummam Congress and the commemoration of the uprising in North-Constantinois in 1955. This date is celebrated annually in Soummam, but this year, the authorities were forced to move the event to Mascara, in the western part of Algeria.
