[edit] Catullus and Wikisource
With respect to your Catullus poem series, would it be a good idea to merge them into one Catullus poem translation entry? Not necessarily of course, just a thought 212.102.225.147 10:04, 1 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Please see my comment on the Talk:Catullus page. Wikipedia is not intended as a repository of original source texts, such as a complete collection of the poetry of Catullus. You could, however, post these on Wikisource, although I agree with the anon above that it would make more sense to do so in a single collection rather than a large series of separate articles. [edit] Vandalism
Thanks for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. Thanks.
Your edits on Pontius Pilate seem to be distorting the good language use on that page, and even changing some words to create nonsense. Subtle edits that cause damage to Wikipedia articles are vandalism. Please be more careful. Roy Al Blue 23:18, 8 December 2005 (UTC)
- Excuse me? I did not vandalize that page; it was a legitimate edit. I removed the word "us." That removed the elementary school teacher tone to the article, and it did not reduce the reader's ability to understand. I could have changed it to "states," and *that* would have been all right with you. Newsflash: "tells" and "states" mean the same thing. Before randomly giving out warnings for the sake of giving out warnings, I suggest you learn a little English.
- I went back and saw that I'd made two other edits. One of them was a mistake, in which I forgot to delete an extra us. This was a mistake, not vandalism (as most sane people, given the nature of my other two edits, could have realized). The other one I made when I rearranged the words around AD was because of another language: Latin. The phrase even in English is "in Anno Domini," not "Anno Domini" by itself. Finally, while the language I created might have been more awkward for someone who does not understand the history of English and its Latin roots (ever wondered why it's not okay to split infinitives?), it was certainly not vandalism: it was English. Unfortunately for your self-esteem, I'm afraid the number of vandalisms you proudly have reported must go down to seven.
I have indeed determined that you have not committed vandalism and have nullified the Test1 Warning by scratching it out above. However, you have made two invalid assumptions:
- First, I am not an admin. Any user may issue the first four levels of vandalism warnings. Of course, however, only an admin can actually block someone (fifth level).
- Second, My counter does not need to be decreased since you are not one of the eight vandals I have reported to the admins. This would have been (for indeed it is not) your first offense, and you would still be at least two offenses away from any possibility of being blocked (the only reason a user would report you to the admins is to alert the admins that this person has committed a sufficient number of infractions to be blocked). If you visit the list of reported vandals, you will see that your Username is not on that list, indicating you have not been reported.
Sorry about this incident. Unfortunately for me, this is one of those cases where a test1 has been issued to an innocent Wikipedian. As is appropriate, it is nullified. Have a nice day.
- Thank you. I will be more careful with regard to making sure my edits are correct before I click "random article" again.
And thank you. I'll get on that bad article. Roy Al Blue 00:12, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
Watch out! Just as I nullified your test1 warning, I see you have committed "page blanking". Please be aware that this is contrary to Wikipedia's deletion policy. "Blanking" an article does 'not' result in that article's deletion, and will only get you a nasty test1 warning. If you wish to have an article deleted you must add an "AfD" tag to it (that is what you type in the double braces). In this case, because it is total nonsense, it is eligible for speedy deletion. This is done with the "db" tag. I will not, however, issue a warning to you. Just be aware of the deletion policy. Roy Al Blue 00:21, 9 December 2005 (UTC)
- Bloody hell. *attempts to feign innocence* Thanks for alerting me to that!
[edit] Artificial limb
Is the marking of Artifical limb as a stub meant to be a joke? --Prof Jolly 23:52, 15 January 2006 (UTC)
- No; it was marked as a regular stub, and I sorted it into the medical treatment category. Sophy's Duckling 00:01, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- I thought that the length of it would have preculded it from being a stub and that the previous IP edit was a joke. Whats your opnion on it? --Prof Jolly 00:10, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- It struck me as being way too long for a stub, but I thought someone might have known what they were doing. Sophy's Duckling 00:11, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
-
- Do you think that the stub marker should be removed? --Prof Jolly 00:13, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- Yes. If there is something majorly lacking, then there can be a section stub. Sophy's Duckling 00:18, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- Do you think that the stub marker should be removed? --Prof Jolly 00:13, 16 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Cleanup Taskforce
You are listed in the membership interest section of the cleanup taskforce but your desk does not seem to be properly set up. Would you like assistance in setting it up? RJFJR 00:41, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, thank you. Sophy's Duckling 03:29, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
-
- I set up your desk. I listed your interest as recorded in the member's by interest page. I set your queue to 4 (meaning you want a maximum of 4 open articles at a time). I added a box that says you are a taskforce participant on your user page (you seem to like them so I didn't think you'd mind). It is at the top, after the box about your not being Napolean. RJFJR 03:56, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
-
- I added We All Fall Down to your desk. This one has been worked on before. The first thing to do is determine how much more work it needs. It might need a lot of work or it might be almost ready to close. Slight problem that it is about a book you probably haven't read. If you have any questions about the te\askforce's procedure please let me know. Thank you. RJFJR 04:07, 4 February 2006 (UTC)
[edit] WP:RFA/Quarl
Hi Sophy's Duckling, thanks for your support in my RFA, which succeeded. If I can ever improve or help in any way, please let me know! :) —Quarl (talk) 2006-02-16 12:07Z
- You're welcome. :)
[edit] Police state
I noticed you commented on Iraq twice, explaining why it used to be a police state. Since the debate is about contemporary police states would that not be superfluous and confusing information? Nomen Nescio 15:05, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
- Oh...I thought it was just about states that should be on the list. the old list had former police states on it as well. Sophy's Duckling 16:43, 19 February 2006 (UTC)
