Sophie Amalie Moth (born 1654 – died January 17, 1719) was Christian V of Denmark’s acknowledged official mistress.[1] Sophie bore him five children, each of whom he acknowledged publicly. Consistent with the practice of his father and grandfather, all were given the surname Gyldenløve. Sophie Amalie's 5 acknowledged illegitimate children by Christian V were:

  • Christiane (1672),
  • Christian (1674),
  • Sophie Christiane (1675),
  • Anna Christiane (1676), and
  • Ulrik Christian (1678).

Sophie Amalie was appointed countess of Samsoe in 1677, which chancellor Peder Griffenfeld lost after falling from favor.
