Sophia Hapgood is a fictional character introduced in the video game Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis; she also appeared in its sequel Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine. The character is being rumored to appear in the upcoming movie Indiana Jones 4 in 2008[citation needed]. From an affluent family in Boston, she rebelled against her parents at a young age. She first became briefly romantically involved with Indiana Jones whilst accompanying him on the Jastro Expedition in Iceland, as he attempted to locate the lost continent of Atlantis (Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis). After World War II, Hapgood was contracted by the newly formed CIA and once again met Indiana Jones in Utah in 1947. She accompanied Jones during his search for the Babylonian Infernal Machine (Indiana Jones and the Infernal Machine), and their relationship was rekindled.
