Sophia Brahe

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sophia Brahe (August 24, 1556 - c. 1643) was a Danish horticulturalist, healer, historian, and astronomer born in Knudstrup to Otte Brahe.

She assisted her older brother, Tycho Brahe, with his astronomical observations that became the basis for modern planetary orbit predictions. Sophia and Tycho were among the first people to record accurate positions of the planets in the late 16th century. Even today there are some Danish and European universities that use her chronicles as an example of exemplary methodology in research techniques.
