[edit] Firmware
I received my K700i in September 2004. In May 2005, as I was sending my phone for maintenance (defective key) I asked for a firmware upgrade. Here are futile differences I could notice between the 2 firmwares (I do not know what version was originaly shipped and what is my current version):
- Brightness can be adjusted with the sidekeys while in camera mode.
- Extra profile named "tty accessory"
- More info in the "phone status" (pressing side key out of menu)
Hence, I would like to catch the attention of the authors of this article: the information you are giving wrt the design of the phone may not be true for all units. --Winged-stone 11:18, 12 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Do you have any idea where one may download it, if it is a freeware anyway. And does it fix the problem when the phone just freezes after particular commands? -- Eagleamn 20:34, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC)
- You could try the Sony Ericsson Update Service. I couldn't try it myself because it requires a computer running MS Windows. Note that you also need the USB cable. What particular commands are you talking about? It probably fixes some bugs since I experienced less troubles when connecting to GPRS over bluetooth. Although I haven't tested it extensively, the phone didnt freeze since then. --Winged-stone 08:12, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
[edit] processor
what about the processor? anybody knows what it is?!
[edit] Criticism - what the...
I just think that the Criticism section breaks the rules of NPOV. Of course if you use a sledgehammer to "repair" the phone or smash it several times to the wall, it's very possible that joystick or display will malfunction... Mine k700i, even if it's 8 months old (bought from second-hand), doesn't have any problems with those parts. Only sometimes the joystick clicks instead of going "down", but that's just my giant thumb. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 83.20.117.54 (talk) 16:18, 7 December 2006 (UTC).
The erroneous joystick of the K700i is real, mine first was hard to press, then all directions you push it just "enters." I think that erroneous joystick info needs a little more fixing so that the readers will be able to understand better. BTW my joystick started malfunctioning 3 months after I've bought it, first hand.
- Press the joystick and move it repeatedly to the left and to the right about 10 times and it will work perfectly.
