Does anyone have a link to download sonic long version?--Philip1992 16:06, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Philip1992
No matter i got it now.
- Make sure you have GENS too! Tom Temprotran 01:18, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
I have that before the download. --Philip1992 16:07, 15 July 2006 (UTC)Philip1992
[edit] Hidden Palace Picture
I removed one of the two Hidden Palace pictures. We don't really need more than one here. --Steerpike 18:11, 19 June 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Long Version: its own page?
Should we give the Long Version its own page? It's quite important, and definitely separate from Sonic 2 and the Beta. Eventually, maybe? Tom Temprotran 01:23, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
- I don't think that's necessary. It's just fine on this page. --Steerpike 05:43, 21 June 2006 (UTC)
I think its a great idea. Because theres a lot to sonic 2 long verson. philip1992
- It's a good idea, but more information is needed. I'm gona play it when I get home from work :D Inforazer 19:02, 5 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Geocities, not Freewebs.
Haha, something tells me this wouldn't fit in an edit summary. Anyways, the proof is the following: "In late 1998, discussons of an unusual Sonic 2 containing lost zones on a USENET newsgroup prompted the real search for the Sonic 2 Beta ROM, which was luckily found on a Chinese website hosted on Geocities. For the first time, the ROM was available to English-speaking Sonic fans." Source: http://www.sws2b.com/about SoNick Belmont 21:59, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Good work. --Philip1992 16:40, 12 July 2006 (UTC)philip1992
[edit] Simon Wai
Is it necessary to credit Wai with "discovering" the prototype, if it was already hosted on a website? That's the same as me saying, "hey, I discovered Google! All hail me!" Just some brain food for ye --Power Slave 21:03, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, because he found it from some Chinese site and brought it to the western world. ~iNVERTED | Rob (Talk | Contribs) 17:25, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Akinori Nishiyama
Should this really redirect here? ~iNVERTED | Rob (Talk | Contribs) 17:25, 4 September 2006 (UTC)
Nope. Philip1992 11:12, 16 September 2006 (UTC)Philip1992
[edit] New Prototype
Given the Nov. 7 drx beta, there's probably going to need to be a new page just for that content--already starting one over at Sonic Retro under Sonic the Hedgehog 2 Early Prototype for gleaning and such. - Scarred Sun
[edit] category canceled games
Why are the alpha and beta versions categorized in Category:Cancelled Sega Mega Drive/Sega Genesis games? It doesn't make sense to me. If there's no better category, start a new one. --32X 08:48, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] S2 Long Version
While this may be an importiant milestone in Sonic hacking, I fail to see how it contributes at all to the article. I've deleted all references to S2LV from the Zone sections and commented out the section describing the hack.
Discuss. --Aurochs (Talk | Block)
- You forgot to take out the Level Select screen for the Long Version.... - Nick15 23:07, 23 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Wrong/illegal?
Is it wrong and/or illegal to post a download link on this page? I mean, certainly the beta hasn't been copyrighted by Sega... right? The Mu 21:24, 1 January 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, Sega still holds the copyright. They just don't seem to care enough to prosecute. Doesn't mean Wikipedia should be linking to it though. --Aurochs (Talk | Block)
[edit] Standard Play
If you just start the game (no level select) you will play:
Neo Green Hill Zone
- ---*
Metropolis Zone Emerald Hill Zone
I can't remember the second zone, but should this be included. As a side note, Metroplis Zone can't be completed. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Sabre Knight (talk • contribs) 17:17, 15 February 2007 (UTC).
[edit] More major revisions
The section about the Nick Arcade prototype is practically identical to the relevant portions of its own article. It doesn't need such a long mention here anyway, since that article exists, so I'm commenting it out. --Aurochs (Talk | Block)
[edit] purple rock vs Hidden Palace emerald
I just disassembled the beta's HPZ emerald myself, compared it to the Sonic 1 Green Hill Zone rock, and found them to be practically identical. This isn't saying much for an object that does precicely nothing, but there you go. I can post comparisons if need be. For now, the citation template is going away. --Aurochs (Talk | Block)
