Sony Pictures Classics

Sony Pictures Classics is one of two specialty films divisions of Sony Pictures Entertainment, the other being Screen Gems (which produces more genre-specific fare). Founded in January 1992, Sony Pictures Classics produces, acquires, finances and distributes independent films from America and around the world. Michael Barker, Tom Bernard, and Marcie Bloom, former heads of Orion Classics, are the co-founders and co-presidents of the autonomous company.
