Sonobe, Kyoto

Sonobe (園部町; -cho) was a town located in Funai District, Kyoto, Japan.

As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 16,958 and a density of 164.99 persons per km². The total area was 102.78 km². It was the home town of the legendary video game designer Shigeru Miyamoto.

The town was merged into the city of Nantan and ceased to exist on January 1, 2006.
