Sonning Regatta

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sonning Regatta is the regatta of Sonning in Berkshire and Sonning Eye in Oxfordshire, England.

The regatta was re-established in the year 2000 as part of the millennium celebrations, having last been held before the Second World War, and is now held every two years. It takes place on the Oxfordshire bank of the River Thames near the Redgrave Pinsent Rowing Lake, normally on the Saturday of the bank holiday weekend at the end of May. There are a number of categories of race for both adults and children including canoes, dingies, skiffs, etc. A particular feature is the dongola racing.

The date of the 2006 Sonning Regatta was Saturday 26 May.
