Songjiang is a small county town in Songjiang District in Shanghai, in eastern China located some 25 miles (40km) south-west along the Shanghai-Hangzhou Maglev Train railway line.

The town has a Song dynasty square Pagoda and nearby a 13ft (4m) high and 20ft (6m) long Ming screen wall, decorated with carvings of legendary beasts that depict human failings and misfortunes.

West of Songjiang is an old mosque part of which dates to the Yuan dynasty and is said to be one of the oldest Islamic buildings in China. Even today it is still a place of Muslim worship.
