Song Shijie

Song Shijie 宋世傑 (1873-1914) was a revolutionary of China. Born in Datong, his father Song An was a military cook. He started studying martial arts in 1885, he then open a martial arts school to teach martial arts.
When he saw different problems of the Qing Dynasty, he helped the poors to confrontate against the corrupt officials. He was even caught by the court but due to his extreme popularity in Shanxi, he was always released.
Song joined the Revolutionary Alliance in 1910, after the Wuchang Uprising in 1911, Song led a team of soldiers to occupy Datong, Datong chief military official Wang Desheng escaped. On December 1, 1911, Song was elected chief general of Datong Military Government by the revolutionaries in Datong. Song joined Kuomintang in 1912.
As Song didn't support Yuan Shikai, he was sentenced to death by Yen Hsi-shan. He was executed in Datong in 1914.[citation needed]
