Sonatine (Ravel)

Sonatine is a piano piece written by Maurice Ravel from 1903–1905. The work was dedicated to Ida and Cipa Godebski; he later dedicated his Ma Mère l'Oye suite to their children. The piece is in three movements:

He wrote this piece for a competition sponsored by a magazine, which went out of business. He was the only entrant. However, this piece should not be overlooked. Its title "Sonatine" does not necessarily reflect its difficulty but rather its tribute to classical styles.
