Sonata for Clarinet and Piano (Bernstein)

Leonard Bernstein's Sonata for Clarinet and Piano, published 1942, was Bernstein's first published piece[1]. It is dedicated to clarinetist David Oppenheim, who Bernstein met at the Tanglewood school.
The piece is about eleven minutes in length and has two movements: a lyrical grazioso, and a jazzy andantino that foreshadows Bernstein's work in West Side Story.
The piece is featured on the DipABRSM examination syllabus.
