Category talk:Sonic the Hedgehog comic characters

I seriously question the need for this category. There aren't that many pages in the main Sonic the Hedgehog characters category.D1Puck1T 22:33, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- Well I question putting Cream the Rabbit and Bunnie Rabbot in the same category. I just think it's nice to separate the characters who don't appear in the video games from the ones who do. --(trogga) 23:33, 3 December 2006 (UTC)
- And a category of just game characters would have, what, 30 or so articles? There's already the barely used "Sonic the Hedgehog villains" category, that really needs to be phased out (considering how disused it is, and how nobody can agree on whether or not some characters belong in it). Considering that many comic versions of characters share an article with game versions, for ease of use in finding information it makes more sense to me to have a single "Sonic the Hedgehog Characters" section.D1Puck1T 19:26, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
- You think 30 articles makes a category underused? I'm all for phasing out the villains category, because of the difficulty defining "villain" more than anything else, but 30 articles is more than enough to make a category worthwhile. -- Supermorff 09:49, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- You misunderstand me. My point was not that 30 articles is not enough for a category, but that either way there's not a very large number of articles. For ease of use, considering the amount of overlap between the games cast and comics cast, I think this split would make things more complicated than it has to be.D1Puck1T 15:53, 9 December 2006 (UTC)
- Oh, right. Yeah, you could be right... Although since it's now here, for the time being at least, I still think it should be restricted to characters exclusively from comics, and not any character that has appeared in the comics. -- Supermorff 19:13, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

- If that's the intention, it makes more sense to restrict the category only to characters that were created for the comics. It's currently being loaded by games characters that have appeared in the comics, i.e. pretty much all of them. Also, since the only Sonic comic that has given a large enough number of character articles is the Archie series, we might consider a rename to, e.g. "Category:Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie) characters". -- Supermorff 08:29, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
