[edit] Family

I think that Maxwell may have been the eldest son of Arthur Maxwell, 11th Baron Farnham, but the sources are not reliable:

Additionally, ThePeerage.com does not list him as a child of the 11th Baron: see http://www.thepeerage.com/p3213.htm#i32127

However, the London Gazette of 19 Feb 43 reports the by-election result, and confirms that he was "commonly called the Honourable Somerset Arthur Maxwell" [1]

The Barons Farnham included several people people called Somerset (see Barons Farnham (1756; Reverted)) so it seems likely that he had some connection to the family. Can anyone shed any light on this? --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 17:32, 29 January 2007 (UTC)

No question. He was. - Kittybrewster 18:01, 29 January 2007 (UTC)
