Somalia, Wake Up
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Somali national anthem, Somalia, Wake Up or Somalia Soo Toos was composed by Ali Mire Awale - July 1947. it was sung to celebrate independence day, July 1 1960 and was widely known and sung by children in the mornings at schools. It replaced the old, wordless Somali anthem when a new de jure national anthem was selected for Somalia in 2000, while the new transitional government was still in exile in Kenya, in an effort to revive the country and break with the past Somalia, Wake up was chosen as the National Anthem.[1]
