[edit] Clean up
Well one thing that would make it more interesting is noting some of the featues of the deal that made Peter Gabriel one of its owners. --DavidP 22:12, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- Studio 0.3 at Abbey Road Studios has a 96 channel SSL 9000 J series console installed, (the other two are Neve consoles, however). --DavidP 22:14, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Right, I've started a little bit of cleanup work by moving the obvious corporate blurb around a bit, putting some actual information at the beginning of the article and heading it all up as company information. --DavidP 22:25, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- I've started breaking the article up into more digestible sections, moving things into these categories so they make sense and qualifying some of the statements made in the article with terms such as SSL claim that. --DavidP 22:53, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- I've now worked through the products section in full, clarifying it and making any claims more either more neutral or attributing the information to SSL. --DavidP 23:14, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
There seems to be a duplication of the external links section. Is it vandalism to delete one of them? --DavidP 22:31, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- I've gone ahead with this as it was just a straight duplication. --DavidP 22:53, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- I've updated the links to provide some better selective referencing of the products mentioned in the article --DavidP 23:06, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
Removing the cleanup tone. Once I'm done, is it okay to just do this? --DavidP 22:55, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- Right I have removed the cleanup tone and the articles in need of editing tag at the end. Please feel free to reinstate either if you do not agree with the changes I have made. --DavidP 23:17, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Taking the article forward
I now plan to address a few issues that will make the article a little more complete and perhaps create some more balance and authority:-
- Competititor products - substitutes and complimentary products.
- Competitor companies - keeping this to companies that complete in their market segment
- Just getting started on both the above... ;-) --DavidP 22:45, 8 July 2006 (UTC)
- Market trends v SSL product releases - what SSL product releases infer about the way they think this volatile market is headed
- Right I'm beginning to crack into this now... --DavidP 22:26, 10 July 2006 (UTC)
- Independent product comment - links to some reviews from the major recording magazines
- Links and sources - most of the information I tidied up is from SSL or their website - a little more balance from some verifiable sources should help
- I have started referencing the sources, (which are all currently SSL website ones), although I am coming across more independent information as I continue my research --DavidP 15:18, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- Have a few more independent sources listed now, working on some more. --DavidP 23:45, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- Technical detail on their major technologies - SSL have developed technologies such a Superanalogue (TM) which differentiates them from other competitor companies
- Some piccies when I can get round to an aquaintance's place and take them
- Anything else I can think of that will be useful, frankly... ;-)
--DavidP 13:33, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
- As ever, the first price of research I try to do finds the limited company - recently set up unfiled and the old group company under receiver management. Not the clearest comment in the world and odd that they don't list their company registration details on their website. --DavidP 14:14, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
-
- Nonetheless some comment needs to be made... --DavidP 23:28, 8 July 2006 (UTC)

--DavidP 23:49, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

--DavidP 11:07, 12 July 2006 (UTC)
- The whole Pro Audio Market section does not really belong here. It is not about SSL only.64.116.221.168 18:52, 31 August 2006 (UTC)
- This is David P en passant... I can see what you're getting at it's just that the product development described is predicated by the market. There may be ways around this...
- DavidP en passent again... (lost my password) - alphebetised the competitor list following the sensible addition of Euphonix.
- The merger suggestions makes sense, although I know very little about this console personally... fact is I've never come across it... (DavidP has had to get a new ID... :¬| ) DavidP02 10:48, 28 September 2006 (UTC)

- Of for goodness sake since when did Digidesign make large format consoles... (8(|)... Doh! DavidP02 01:15, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
