Solypsis

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Solypsis is the performance alias of noise musician James Miller of Chicago, USA. His music is characterised by extreme digital feedback and distorted sampling. Miller frequently appears under several other alias as well.

After a few appearances on the now-legendary UK label V/Vm Test Records and a host of other compilations, Solypsis co-founded Couch Fort Records, releasing two compilations that included noteworthy underground electronic musicians such as Electric Company, V/Vm, Terminal 11, Casino Versus Japan and others. In December, 2005 Solypsis self-released a limited edition DVD-R containing every track recorded since he began making noise in 1998 (over 700 songs).

Couch Fort closed after only two releases and has been supersceded by Digital Vomit Recordings. As of the March 2006 the label, run as a collective, has been assembling a third compilation of noise artists, featuring Jansky Noise, Toecutter and more.
