Solid Gold Saturday Night was a live American national oldies radio show, broadcast coast-to-coast on Saturday nights, which started in 1982. It was hosted by Dick Bartley until 1987.
Bob Worthington became the host and producer of the show in January 1988. He broadcast "live" from Manhattan, first on the United Stations Radio Network, then Unistar, and finally over the Westwood One Radio Network. For five consecutive years (1988-1992), the show was nominated as top syndicated adult-contemporary show by Billboard Magazine! In 1992 "SOLID GOLD SATURDAY NIGHT" won the Silver Medal at the prestigious New York International Radio Festival (Casey Kasem's "American Top 40" won the Gold Medal that year). "SOLID GOLD SATURDAY NIGHT" was heard on great stations across America like: WNSR in New York City, KRTH-AM - Los Angeles, KLUV-Dallas, WMMJ-Washington, D.C, WROR-Boston, KFMK-Houston, CKLW-FM Detroit, KOOL-FM-Phoenix and over 250 stations!
As a radio air personality, Bob Worthington spent more than a decade in New York City on some of the most well known, most listened to radio stations in America... stations like "Mix 105" WNSR, the legendary WCBS-FM and the venerable "Today's 93.1" WPAT where he did the morning drive show. Bob has also worked in his native Chicago, Philadelphia, for nine years at 102.7 WQSR in Baltimore, and at "Big 100.3" WBIG in Washington, DC.
He now is one of the most successful voice-over talents in the country!
