Solesmes is a town and commune of the Sarthe département, in France, located near Sablé.

The Abbey Saint-Pierre de Solesmes, founded in 1010, is a Benedictine abbey. It is best known for its cultivation of the Roman Catholic liturgy and in particular Gregorian chant. Dom Prosper Gueranger, the famous 19th century abbot of Solesmes, was largely responsible for the restoration of the Benedictine Order in France.
