Solent TV is an independent not-for-profit television channel broadcast on the Isle of Wight. It is transmitted from the Rowridge transmitter on the Isle of Wight on UHF channel 54 (735.25 MHz).

After a false start in March 2006, the channel launched on the SKY satellite platform on 15 January 2007.

To enable the transition to SKY, it is said that Solent TV will be working with Sony Broadcast and Broadcast Networks to upgrade Solent TV’s technical infrastructure by installing a turnkey solution to Digital and HD technology. The solution includes a completely new Sony XDCAM HD camera system, allowing Solent TV to acquire all of their footage on this exciting new format; an HD ready media server and media management system from Suitcase TV; a Miranda X-Station HD-ready playout system and the new Miranda Kaleido multiview system for playout. To link Solent TV to the Sky platform, a new Broadcast Networks H264 encoder system is used to provide the live link to Globecast, who in turn provide the uplink to Sky The channels content is streamed live in Windows Media Format as well as a collection of video on demand files such as the channels news programme 'Solent Tonight'. The organisation claims via its website that hundreds of thousands of people could potentially view the station.

The TV stations web site is ranked by Amazon's Alexa as number one for Isle of Wight news and informationand receives millions of hits every month.
