[edit] Biography

Based out of the Washington D.C. area, SOJA has created five releases, producing three under their personal label, Innerloop. SOJA professes its music to contain a "conscious message". Their message continually focuses on present events in and around the Washington D.C. area. [1] In the winter of 1997, SOJA produced their first recording entitled Creeping In. The self-produced 13 song album was independently released. Only 400 cassettes were manufactured, but it received notice in the local reggae scene and Rastafari community. SOJA recorded it’s second, self-titled album, Soldiers of Jah Army with veteran engineer and producer Jim Fox at LION and FOX Recording Studios in 2000. The band's first full length album and third release Peace in a Time of War was released in 2002. Although written before 9/11, the songs seemed to speak ominously of the events that happened on and after 9/11. In 2005 they released a Dub version of the album titled Dub in a Time of War. [2] They released their third full length album in January 2006 titled Get Wiser.

While the band's dominant music style is reggae, sounds of rock, alternative, and hip-hop can also be heard.
