Solar radius

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In astronomy, the solar radius is a unit of length used to express the size of stars and larger objects such as galaxies. It is equal to the radius of the Sun. Its value is:

R_{\bigodot} = 6.960\times 10^8\hbox{ m} = 0.00464912633\hbox{AU} (Astronomical unit)

The solar radius is about 110 times the radius of the Earth.
